Introduction to Archery

We are a friendly small club near Hailsham, in the heart of East Sussex. Please see the maps page for details of where we are.

The type of archery shot at our club is Target archery. During the summer months this is at set distances varying from 30-90 metres or 40-100 yards. During the winter we shoot indoors, distances from 18-25 metres. There are many different types of bow you can use, the main ones being Compound, Recurve or Longbow. An archer shoots an 'end' which consists 6 arrows shot 3 at a time. The number of ends and distances you shoot on an afternoon depends on the Round shot that afternoon.

We now have our very own Field archery course. This is at marked distances varying from 5-60 metres and is set around a course in woodland, on the 1st and 3rd Saturday morning of each month. For club members only.

Beginners

To be able to shoot safely, you will need to complete our Beginners Course. The next one will be in September. Time would be 10 for 10.30am start on three consecutive Sunday mornings. Each course lasts 2 hours. Cost £25 (refunded if you join the club). You need to attend three sessions.
